We did not have a nice sleep last night, at 2 a.m. the fire alarm went off at Mazza and everybody had to leave the apartments till everything was settled. Fortunately nothing happened but I had to get up early in the morning to attend the Watesol Fall Convention at UMD. The event started at 9 with a plenary session and was followed by 3 concurrent presentations. From a large list of choices, I selected: Going Digital with oral skill assessment, Developing critical awareness through online speaking portfolios and Capturing moments with PhotoStory to inspire writing and foster relationships. All of them contributed with extra hints to my capstone project. There was also a session called SIG (Special Interest Group) where four teaches had only fifteen minutes each to talk about some experiences that really worked in their classrooms. At the end of the convention there was a raffle and I got a collection of 3 new Longman Dictionaries.
