It was very early in the morning when the whole group with Holly, Letitia and her family set off for New York. After 4 hours, we got to Brooklyn and this was our first stop, Martin Haber an American Fulbrighter who is preparing his trip to England had invited the group of international teachers to visit John Dewey HS, his own school. He and a group of students-ambassadors had prepared a warm welcome for us. Sometimes we do not realize how much we may do simply by greeting people, Martin and his students were really moved by our visit. There we attended many classes and we also became involved in the classroom activities. We were presented with a T-shirt as a souvenir and we departed for Manhattan.
After crossing the Brooklyn Bridge, the high scrapers grew higher and higher in front of us till we got to the Holiday Inn hotel on 57th St. In the evening we went to Broadway to see West Side Story, the musical, right in the center of Time Square. The bright colors of the huge screens turned the street into day light. Simply amazing!
